Cherry Blossom Forecast 2017 – さくら開花予想2017

Cherry blossoms in Japan are arguably the most beautiful in the world.  Accordingly, hanami (cherry blossom viewing) is one of the most celebrated things not only for Japanese people but for people the world over.  Millions come from far and wide to see these tiny pink petals, and there’s no question as to why either.

sakura_front_1920x1080Every year Wethermap releases a “sakura forecast” showing the expected dates for hanami throughout Japan.  This country may be on the small side but its climate and seasons differ drastically depending on where you are.  This is especially evident during hanami season.  For example, up in Aomori and Hokkaido, the trees bloom roughly an entire month after the ones in Tokyo.

Here’s what’s happening and when/where you should go for the most breathtaking hanami experience.  Also, don’t forget a mini tarp!  (Find out why here.)
